Muskingum University commemorates the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor

NEW CONCORD, Ohio- A Call to Service: A Remembrance was held at Muskingum University Thursday.

This special chapel service was held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 in the lives of John and Annie Glenn and the nation as a whole.

“It is a deep privilege to be able to remember John and Annie’s contribution to this country and to this university,” Muskingum University Chaplain, Rev. Will Mullins said. “To celebrate them and that special day on December 7, 1941, when Annie gave that organ recital. John heard those notes and resolved to serve this country. That service has been seen in both of their lives throughout their lives.”

The video “Out of Silence: the Annie Glenn Story” was also shown. It was created by Muskingum professors Tom German and Jeff Harman. Written and narrated by Dr. Lorle Porter in 2010. Chaplain Mullins hopes those who attended Thursday’s event feels called to serve.

“To serve their country. To serve one another. To better their communities and to carry on the legacy of the Glenn’s to care about education in small town america,” Rev. Mullins said.

The names of all the Muskingum students and alumni who died in World War II were read aloud. The service concluded with a prayer.
