Community Support Fuels Ambulance Upgrade in South Zanesville
SOUTH ZANESVILLE, OH – A new set of wheels is rolling into South Zanesville, thanks to the community’s incredible support.
The South Zanesville Fire Department has recently purchased a 2011 E450 Ambulance. While it’s not brand new, this used ambulance is in excellent condition and ready to roll. The new addition will allow first responders to provide faster, safer, and more efficient care in emergency situations.
“It will allow quicker response. If we’re out with another department on a wreck or something, we now have another ambulance so that another crew can come in. It also helps the public get care quicker,” SZFD Fire Chief Russell Taylor said.
Thanks to the success of several community raffles, the department was able to make the purchase without breaking the budget. They’re proud of the upgrade, and deeply thankful for the support that made it possible.
“We paid $39,000 for it. We got a great deal. It came with its own power cot, and that alone is about $25,000. So, we saved that money. All of this was made possible from the raffles and stuff that we’ve been running. We’re giving that money back to the public plus we’re buying our own equipment so we can take some of the burden off of taxpayers,” Chief Taylor said. “Thank you for your support to the fire department. We’ll continue running these raffles. This is where your money is going. We’re not throwing your money away; we’re putting it back into the fire department to better serve the community.”
