Y-Bridge Arts Festival kicks off at Zane State with sunshine and support

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Y-Bridge Arts Festival kicked off today in a brand-new location, bringing color, creativity, and the community to the Zane State College campus.
The festival, usually held downtown near Secrest Auditorium, was moved this year due to ongoing construction. Organizers say the change has worked out, offering more space and a scenic backdrop for the community.
“We’re excited for the new location, we’ve got a lot of outdoor space with trees and grass and we feel like that is going to be a beautiful place for our artists to show off their work, and it’s a great combination with the campus center for our indoor artists, so we’ve got a variety of spaces and I think that Zane State is making an awesome host for us this year, it’s a beautiful place to stop out and see our artist,” said Artist Colony of Zanesville President, Mark Goodall.
More than just visual art, the event features live music, food trucks, and family-friendly activities from the Zanesville Museum of Art. Organizers say the community continues to show strong support for the event which received a $10,000 donation from the J.W. & M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation
“The Y-Bridge Arts Festival has been going on for a very long time, we just feel like it’s a great celebration of the arts, our local artists and some from other communities join us…it’s a time to celebrate the artists in our area, we have such a wide variety of mediums, our artists specialize in all kinds of different things so there is always something to see, our musicians represent a wide variety of music styles as well,” said Goodall.
Today’s warm and sunny weather made for the perfect opening day. The Y-Bridge Arts Festival continues tomorrow starting at 11 a.m. and runs until dark. Admission is free.
