Ohio State Alum Smith Inspires Cambridge Students with New Book
CAMBRIDGE, OH – “I am worth it.”
Words uttered time and time again from Ohio State alum Antonio Smith, who was once a first team all-Big Ten selection and BCS national champion.
Smith is now using his platform to help inspire others, whether it’s as an author or motivator. He is taking the opportunity to teach those who may follow in his footsteps, what path to take.
Initiated by his 2012 book, ‘Waiting to Fail’, Smith is making the rounds to promote his message of “I am worth it” from his business, “CLEAN Enterprises”, which aims to assist “justice-involved men and women with financial education and business resources”.
Among Smith’s stops was Cambridge High School, where he spoke and interacted with all high school and middle school students. He talked about his new book, what inspired him to write it, and how he is continuing to teach others.
“The story tells a lot about my upbringing and some of my backdrop, some of the adversities and challenges I faced” says Smith.
“People in life, they want to do something in life, but they have this fear of failure that typically refrains them from stepping outside their comfort zone.”
Smith told a story that as a nine-year old in a dangerous part of Columbus, he was told that he would never amount to anything, which sparked his journey.
He continues, “I was a walk on at Ohio State. Didn’t have a scholarship, but I walked on. I didn’t have this fear of failure, and I went in and was able to accomplish some of those things.”
Since his football journey ended in 2010, Smith has dedicated his time to helping other people reach their fullest potential. For more information on Smith’s mission, you can visit his YouTube or Instagram page.
