Candidate’s Forum at Zane State Campus Center
Interviewed by WHIZ reporter Gabe Hutton

Living in a democracy means learning about the candidates and the issues and an event on Zane state’s campus helps accomplish that very task.
A candidate’s forum was held Saturday to give the public a chance to talk to candidates who will be on the ballot in November.
The event saw multiple city organizations with their own tables to discuss what they have planned for the future.
Multiple future candidates spoke at the event not only to let the people know what they want for the city but to also have chance to meet the public in an open forum. As well as meeting familiar faces who are already in office
The mayor of Zanesville don mason stated, “well, this is a wonderful opportunity for those who are candidates to mingle and talk to each other and learn from each other. And it’s also a wonderful opportunity for the public to hear what the candidates’ viewpoints are. But more importantly, it’s important for the candidates to hear from the public, what their thoughts are. So all in all, i think a strong democracy requires like a lot of public sessions like this where there’s just people being friendly, learning from each other, talking to each other more, forming, listening to each other. ”
Zanesville residents were able to voice any issues they have with roadways, expenses, and any other issues they wished to have resolved
As this event was a true opportunity to talk with the ones who can affect change
Mason also stated, “a lot of functions performed by the federal and state government that affect us in daily life. Our local government affects us in terms of housing and community development, law enforcement, public safety and public service matters. So, I think it’s important to come out to these kinds of affairs again, to become immersed and involved in those activities that really affect our daily life.”
The November fourth election includes races for Zanesville city council and two levy renewals.
