Patricia “Patty” Roberts

Patty Roberts 1

In Loving Memory of Patty Roberts:

On July 26, 1947, the world was blessed with the life of Patricia (Patty) Ann Roberts (Thompson). She grew up in Zanesville, Ohio, where she attended Zanesville High School and began building the strong, spirited, and loving character that carried her through life.

She dedicated many years of her life to helping others through her work in the mental health profession and retired from Job and Family Services in Licking County. Her compassion, strength, and care touched countless lives outside her family, leaving a lasting impact.

She previously attended Rolling Plains United Methodist Church and North Terrace Church of Christ, where her faith was an important source of comfort and strength. She especially cherished building Christian friendships and sharing her love and encouragement with others in her church family.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, George and Roberta Thompson; her sister, Shirley (Gerald) Cope; and her brother, Richard Thompson. Their memory, along with her own legacy, will continue to live on through her family.

Her proudest role was being a mother to her three children, Tresa (Jeff) Campbell, Shelia (Brian) Smith, and Brian (Angie) Watts. Her love for them was fierce, unconditional, and lifelong. She found pure joy in being surrounded by her family and was happiest when their voices and laughter filled the room.

That joy only grew as her family expanded. She adored her grandchildren — Brittani (Cody) Parker, Mariah (Luke) Hahn, Jayna (Adrian) McCutcheon, Brooke (Gunner) Hazen, Nick (Maddie) Watts, Bailee Rose Smith, and Chloe Campbell. Her eyes would light up whenever she talked about them, and she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, whether in the stands at a basketball game or celebrating life’s milestones. Her heart grew even bigger with the arrival of her great-grandchildren — Joanna, Emmie, Briar, Gatlin, Braxton, and Memphis, who brought her so much pride and happiness.

She was feisty, spunky, full of life, and had a love for simple joys. She could often be found listening to the band at her granddaughter’s school, rooting for her favorite teams — the Ashland Eagles, West Liberty Hilltoppers, and Maysville Big Cats women’s basketball teams — and cheering on the Crooksville Ceramics football team cheerleaders. Supporting her grandchildren and their schools brought her some of her happiest moments.

She had a gift for making ordinary moments special and reminding those around her of what truly mattered — love, family, and enjoying the time we are given. Her family will carry her legacy forward, honoring her by living with the same zest for life and love for each other that she so beautifully embodied. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will remain a guiding light in our lives.

Along with her beloved family, she cherished the friendship of Tim and Linda Starrett and Linda Quinn, who brought her much joy and companionship. Her family also wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the nurses and staff at Altercare Zanesville, where she resided for the last three years, and to Genesis Hospice Care (Morrison House) for the compassion and care shown to her in her final days.

Her family and friends will miss her dearly but know she’s still looking down from the Heavens above — probably from the best seat in the house.

Services to celebrate her life will be held at William Thompson and Son Funeral Home in White Cottage on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 6::00 PM with private burial services at a later time. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, share stories, and remember the remarkable woman who touched so many hearts.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
