Tree of Love Returns to Celebrate and remember Loved Ones
ZANESVILLE, OH – The spirit of the season is already starting to shine at Gensis Healthcare System. The annual Tree of Love fundraiser is returning, giving the community a way to honor loved ones while supporting local healthcare.
Each year, the Tree of Love fundraiser lets people celebrate or remember someone special with a glowing holiday tribute. To take part, residents can purchase an individual tree, a poinsettia decorative display card, or give a general donation. Donations help support Genesis volunteer projects and hospice care services.
“Tree of Love is a fundraiser where we line up trees outside of Genesis Hospital. You can buy a plaque that can be in memory of or in honor of a loved one. There’s also a poinsettia tree that we have inside. It has placement cards in it for in memory of or in honor of. Or you can just do a general contribution as well.” Genesis Volunteer Services Manager, Lee McGee said. “The trees line up the hospital, and it makes the hospital look beautiful during the Christmas season. It’s for anyone who is mourning over somebody or if they want to honor somebody that’s done something amazing throughout the community.”
Donations can be made through an order form, which must be completed by Friday, November 14th. The trees will line the main entrances and walkways of seven Genesis locations across the area. A Tree of Love lighting ceremony will take place on Friday, November 21st at 6 p.m. at the Genesis Hospital main entrance, located at 29-51 Maple Avenue in Zanesville.
“We’d love for anybody to attend. It is a free event. There will be free hot chocolate and cookies, and Saint Nick will be there with some treats for the children.” McGee said.
Trees will also be displayed at Genesis Behavioral Health, Genesis Cancer Care Center, Genesis Coshocton Medical Center, Genesis HealthCare Foundation, Genesis Hospice Care, and Genesis Perry County Medical Center.
