Coloring contest winners announced for the Dog License Coloring Contest

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Auditor’s Office has announced the winners of the Dog License Coloring Contest.

Four students from pre-k through 12th grade received a dog license for the 2026 licensing season along with a small gift basket for winning the county-wide coloring competition. More than 400 students submitted a colorful K-9 to the Muskingum County Courthouse where Muskingum County Auditor Tina Huebner and her team had to pick out their favorites.

“My favorite part about this competition is looking at each of those artwork and just evaluating them and looking at the detail and the creativity. Some kids added some kitty cats to their photos, some trees, some hearts and they’re all just all unique,” Huebner said.

All of the entries are being showcased on the walls of the courthouse and on the auditor’s website. The contest was created this year to remind dog owners that the 2026 dog tags are now on sale for $16 until Jan. 31st and will help you reunite with your dog should they ever go missing.

“To purchase or renew a dog license, to buy a one-year, you can do that online on the auditor’s website. Secondly, you can mail in your application along with a check and a self addressed envelope and then my office will return the dog license and the receipt back to you,” Huebner said. “And lastly, you can come into the Muskingum County Auditor’s Office to purchase a dog license or you can go to purchase a one-year dog license to any of the ten satellite locations.”

Huebner would like to thank local schools that encouraged their students to participate and says that she plans to bring the coloring competition back next year. You can find more information like the full list of satellite locations at the Muskingum County Auditor’s website.
