ZANESVILLE, Ohio – You can’t believe everything you see on the internet. That evergreen advice even applies to YouTube videos about property tax relief.

Muskingum County Auditor Tina Huebner released a press release urging residents to be cautious of videos claiming a new federal program provides property tax relief. According to the release, these videos tell viewers to contact their county auditor and request a “Senior Homeowner Tax Review Request Form.” This form does not exist, and no such program exists.

There is a Homestead Exemption for qualified homeowners, including seniors, people with disabilities, disabled veterans, and surviving spouses. You can visit the Muskingum County Auditor’s website or call (740) 544-7109 to learn more.

WHIZ has found that several of these videos on YouTube have been made by artificial intelligence (AI), which is disclosed in the video’s description. Videos made with AI are often a source of misinformation online and should be approached with extreme skepticism.
