This years Buckeye Pep Rally sets new records for the Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Big Brothers Big Sisters hosted their annual Buckeye Pep Rally in Zanesville and the impact of the event has an official tally.

Katie Lupsor, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Appalachian Ohio says their annual November fundraiser broke a long list of records. They had a record amount of sponsors for the event and set the record for their live auction event which raised more than $50,000. That amount from the live auction beat the previous record by nearly 20%.

“We did not expect it. The community, amid a tougher economy just responded. We hit a record in our attendance as well,” Lupsor said. “We had over 600 event attendees, we had more tables than we ever had at the event before, ever, in pep rally history. And we raised a total of $126,000 plus.”

According to Lupsor, that money goes along way to help their organization offer programming local children.

“The funds raised go to impact all of our youth mentoring programs in our five-county reach. Which is Muskingum, Guernsey, Morgan, Noble and Coshocton Counties. So, as we get bigger, obviously this even revenue is very vital to our success and being able to provide more quality programs to youth in our area,” Lupsor said. “So, this overwhelming response from the community helps us do just that. So we’re able to provide that quality programming to more kids in our reach and obviously do what we do best and conduct youth programs. ”
