ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Expanding public utilities throughout Muskingum County is an ongoing investment toward a more prosperous future.

The Muskingum County Projects Department met with the Commissioners to apprise them of some recent hang-ups as well as the status of projects that will take place during 2026.

“Licking View is a sanitary sewer project. It’s new construction, it will serve about a hundred… just over 150 homes. We’re nearing completion on that. It’s been a two-year project. We’ve got a little bit of a pump manufacturing issue, which we’re looking to resolve but looking to put a lot of people on sewer here in the near future,” Muskingum County Assistant Projects Director Zackhery Forker said.

One of the sewage pumps that was installed drew too high of amperage and was returned to the manufacturer to make right. The manufacturer’s delay sets back the project’s completion beyond this week’s original estimated completion date.

“Maysville Water project is for Muskingum County to provide water for Maysville Regional Water District. We have completed that. We’re currently waiting for a little bit of Maysville to do a little bit of SCADA issues,” Forker said.

The SCADA issues center around the computerized telemetry that controls the water routing and monitors water pressures and flow. Projects that are on the docket for 2026 include the Dozer Ridge water main extension and the State Route 555 water main extension, which are two separate projects that are located in Brush Creek Township.
