Carr Center Prepares for 40th Annual Cake Auction

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Many families have loved ones that have special needs and the Carr Center offers custom tailored programs that help those families get by.
Carr Center Executive Director Katie Graham explained how proceeds from their annual Cake Auction funds the programs that support local families.
“The Cake Auction obviously is incredibly important to us.” Graham said. “We have about eight programs that run throughout the year. Two main programs are our Speech… Pediatrics Speech Therapy and our Adult Day. Those run Monday through Friday. Those are beautiful programs that you know, you get to see the impact of everybody’s support in, every day.”
Many of the Carr Center programs such as Safety Town, Kinder Camp, and Special Riders, have been making an influence in the lives of local residents for generations, and they’re all funded through the community’s support of the Cake Auction.
“The 40th Annual Carr Center Cake Auction will be held at Colony Square Mall, April 22nd and 23rd, 9-to-5, just like it was last year,” Graham said. “Our theme is 40 years of Care, Cake and Community. We couldn’t do it without the support of WHIZ and the mall and all of our hundreds of volunteers. And it’s humbling every year that so many people come out to support us and believe in our mission.”
Individuals, businesses and organizations can donate a cake attached with some type of incentive to the Cake Auction, where it’s sold to the highest bidder with the proceeds going to the Carr Center.
