Charles Marolt

Charles L. Marolt, Jr., affectionately known as “Speedy,” embarked on his final journey on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant and multifaceted as his nickname suggests. Born on August 11, 1963, to the late Charles and Joann (Bowen) Marolt, he lived a life brimming with passion and independence, embracing each day with a spirit that resonated deeply with those fortunate enough to know him.
Speedy’s battle with cancer was one marked by resilience and a profound love for life, which shone through even during his most challenging moments. He exemplified the very essence of living on one’s own terms, evading the grasp of death time and again with a twinkle in his eye and a determination that inspired all around him. His zest for life was palpable; whether he was casting a line on a tranquil fishing expedition or cheering on his favorite drivers at the dirt track races held at Midway Speedway in Crooksville, he was a beacon.
A true embodiment of the saying, “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one,” Speedy was a resourceful soul, relying on his unique set of skills to navigate the intricacies of the world. He was known as the “lord of the torpedo heater,” a testament to his quirky charm, and his fondness for a good flashlight was legendary.
Throughout his life, Speedy held dearly to his family, especially his mother, whom he took remarkably good care of, ensuring her comfort and happiness. His siblings, Mike Marolt and, Cheryl (Don) Linnemann, along with nieces Kassandra Linnemann (Colton Brown) and Jessica Linnemann, and his favorite great-nephew Walker Brown, several aunts and uncles and a whole host of friends remember him as a booming presence in their lives.
In addition to his parents, Charles and Joann Marolt, Speedy is preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Marolt.
Visitation to honor Speedy’s remarkable life will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Goebel Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Crooksville, Ohio. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Crooksville next to his father. As family and friends gather to celebrate this bright spirit who danced through life with vitality and courage, they will remember him not only for his hearty laugh and adventurous spirit but also for the lessons he imparted through the way he lived—fearlessly, joyfully, and with a profound sense of independence.
