ZANESVILLE, OH – Valentine’s Day usually means flowers and chocolate, but it can also mean rolling up your sleeves to make yourself a sweet treat.

WHIZ’s Shylin Costello and Aniyah Hart teamed up with a local baker to showcase how you can make a sweet treat at home.

Valentine’s Day is a busy time at Bee Sweet Desserts & Eats in downtown Zanesville, as people look for desserts to share with someone special.

But the team at Bee Sweet says it doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, a simple homemade treat can mean the most. We tried making mini heart-shaped cheesecakes, starting with a graham cracker crust, which you can make homemade or buy in store, and a cheesecake filling made from cream cheese, sour cream, eggs, and sugar.

We made two flavors, a white chocolate raspberry and a chocolate strawberry by adding cocoa powder to the mix. To make them, we layered the cheesecake mix, added our filling, then topped it with another layer before baking. And once they’re baked, and cooled, the real fun begins… the decorating. We topped our cheesecakes with more filling, shredded chocolate, and drizzle to finish them off.
They may not look bakery-perfect, but they’re a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home whether you’re by yourself of a special someone.

If you’d rather leave the baking to the professionals, Bee Sweet Desserts & Eats has a variety of Valentine’s Day treats available. They’re located in the Downtown Exchange in Zanesville, and you can also find more information by visiting their website or Facebook page.
