Drug related search warrant executed on Putnam Avenue

The Zanesville Police Department and Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office Special Response teams executed a drug-related search warrant today. During the execution of the search warrant in the 1000 block on Putnam Avenue, one person was taken into custody, and multiple types of suspected narcotics and a firearm were seized, according to a press release from the Zanesville Police Department.

The search warrant was a culmination of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation by the sheriff’s office, the police department, the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force, and the Ohio Counter Drug Program and stemmed from numerous citizen complaints of drug activity in the area.

The case will be forwarded to Muskingum County Prosecutor Ron Welch to be reviewed for potential charges.
