Veterans to take part in Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – 21 veterans from Muskingum County will take part in an honor flight to Washington, D.C. Saturday morning.
The Zanesville Veterans Appreciation Foundation raised $20,000 in 2016, and all the money was donated to three veteran charities, one being the honor flight.
Wayne Clark, a Vietnam Veteran, said it’s going to be an emotional day as they visit all of the monuments in Washington, D.C.
There’s so many neat things that they are going to experience and just a huge thank you, said Clark. There’s going to be some emotional situations that these guys aren’t going to be prepared for. It’s going to really make them feel good and feel like it’s one of the greatest days of their lives.”
The veterans are set to leave Zanesville around 4 a.m. Saturday morning, and will have a police escort all the way to John Glenn Airport in Columbus.
A three day fundraising event for the 2017 campaign will be the weekend of June 9th. The event involves a Flags of Honor presentation at Zanesville High School, a raffle, and half and half. There will be a special auction at Terry’s Tavern, a “Harley Davidson Roadster” raffle by Fink’s Harley Davidson, and golf outing at Green Valley Golf Club.
All money raised from these events will benefit veterans charities.
