Dresden Water Main Break

DRESDEN, Ohio – The Village of Dresden is under a Water Boil Advisory due to a water main break.
According to Mayor David Mathew the main ten inch supply line that attached to their reservoir erupted during the middle of the night. Since it is the main line many residents and businesses are without water.

“Every customer on the Village of Dresden Water Service, so it’d be 1,000 properties anyway,” Mathew said. “We’ve had to issue a boil alert and they’re working. They’ve as you’ve seen excavated a hole. We’ve found the leak now so it’s just a matter of getting repairs done.”
The leak was located by State Route 60 just after the Ninth Street intersection. Mayor Mathew asked that people give the repair crew time to repair and check possible pollution.
“That is our largest line in the village and the main supply line that comes off the reservoir,” Mathew said. “So it couldn’t have been at a worse location. Once we get pressure back on the line, the boil alert will last 24 hours and then we’ll announce when it’s met the criteria of the E.P.A. and they can clear the alert.”
Until the boil alert is lifted the Muskingum County Water Department’s website suggests residents effected have to boil any water for suggested three minutes used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice and any other consumption. The water does not need to be boiled for external uses like bathing, washing dishes and washing laundry.
