Gas Prices Dip in Ohio

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The official start of summer is this week and gas prices have dipped again around the country, and especially in Ohio.
The average price for a gallon of regular fuel in Ohio is $2.12– a $.40 drop in prices from one year ago. However, one local resident says even with gas prices dropping, she won’t be planning a vacation this summer.
“I like to go to Raleigh, NC because my son lives down that way. I usually take one [vacation] every summer but this summer I’m probably going to stay home,” said Marilyn Ireton, a local consumer.
The average price in Ohio is well below the national average of $2.29 as of Monday– $.05 lower than compared to this time last year.
One out-of-town visitor from Atlanta says that she will look at the gas prices occasionally, but with a small child and the need to purchase it anyway, she doesn’t pay particular attention to where she stops.
“Well you have to pay for it regardless so I look every now and again, just to see what the prices look like– if they’ve dropped or gone up. With a little one, I just look and see what gas prices are and stop in whenever I need it,” explained Melissa Couch.
AAA says high gasoline production, lower demand, and an unexpected buildup of crude oil contributed to the decrease in fuel prices, but drivers shouldn’t expect them to fall much lower.
