Special Olympics flame torch run

Zanesville, Ohio- The Muskingum County Sheriffs office, State Highway Patrol and Department of Corrections ran with the torch today.
Muskingum Deputy Dylen Marple says he decided to run for the first time to help raise awareness for those who compete in the Special Olympics.
“I would like to bring awareness to it… help people understand some of the issues that come with that,” said Marple. Also help raise money for programs… to get them what they need.”
Post Commander Zanesville Highway Patrol Lieutenant Matt Boyd runs not only to spread awareness but, because he has a personal connection to those with special needs.
I have a nephew with special needs, he’s not able to participate in them. He’s very special, near and dear to me,” said Boyd. I just feel like this is something I hold close to me, he was able to do it with me last year in Mcconnelsville, so that’s something special to me.”
The Final Leg runs June 23rd into the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus for the Opening Ceremonies
