Emma Swope receives the 2026 Dreier Foundation Scholarship

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Emma Swope has been announced as the winner of the 2026 Fred F. and Herman M. Dreier Foundation Scholarship.
The Dreier Scholarship provides $40,000 to a student of distinction each year since 2005. Kurt Dreier is a family representative for the scholarship foundation and explains where the scholarship came from and who is eligible.
“The scholarship was formed by my Great-Uncle Fred after the passing of his brother Herman. And so they’ve combined their estates and made this scholarship,” Dreier said. “The scholarship is primarily for agriculture, premed, prevet, and engineering students, in Muskingum County only.”
Emma Swope is a recent graduate of Philo High School with plans to attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She will be pursuing a degree in environmental biology with a dual minor in business and non-profit management. Swope hopes that her education can help her find a career in agriculture.
“I really love nature and the outdoors. So I took a biology class through Hocking College my sophomore year and we did a leaf study project and it really stood out to me and just my love for plants and trees have kind of flourished since then,” Swope said.
Anyone interested in contributing to this fund can contact Dreier or the Columbus Foundation, which manages the fund.
