NORWICH, OH – A sea of yellow is once again blooming in Muskingum County, welcoming visitors to stroll through the flowers and make the most of the final weeks of summer.

For a few weeks each summer, a six-acre field in Norwich becomes one of the brightest spots in Muskingum County, drawing visitors from near and far to soak up the final weeks of summer.

Now in peak bloom, Lake’s Sunflower Field is welcoming visitors to wander through rows of towering sunflowers and enjoy one of summer’s shortest, but most colorful, seasons.
For many, it’s not just a place to take pictures. It’s a chance to slow down and enjoy the scenery.

“I appreciate the people that just take in the natural beauty and really just take their time to enjoy it. And they like feel like they’re in God’s country.” Jennifer Lake, Owner of Lake’s Sunflower Field said.

While the flowers are the main attraction, the experience stretches far beyond the blooms. Visitors can follow paths through the field, stop at photo props, enjoy a kid’s area, and even purchase individual flowers, or fill a bucket, to bring a little piece of summer home.

“We have a lot of different props. We have a big path that goes all the way to the back, and then they can stop at props and they take pictures. That’s what most people do. We have a little kid’s area as well, but the kids really like to get different pictures and stuff.” Lake said.

And while those photos may last long after the season ends, this local family says what makes the field truly special is sharing the beauty they see every day with the rest of the community.

“It feels really special. It’s nice to be able to put Norwich on the map and let everyone see the farmland that we really enjoy, the beauty that we see every day.” Lake said.

The sunflowers are now in bloom, but the season only lasts a few short weeks. So for anyone hoping to experience one of the brightest spots in Muskingum County, the time to visit is now.

Lake’s Sunflower Field is open Monday through Friday from 4 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 8:30 p.m.  They’re located at 10965 Norfield Road in Norwich.

Admission is $5.
