Maysville, Tri-Valley open seasons Thursday night

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The high school season kicked off on Thursday night with a pair of big local match-ups.
The Maysville Panthers traveled to Newark Catholic to take on the Green Wave, and it was a rough night for New Catholic quarterback Hunter Chapman. Chapman threw six interceptions on the evening, three by Panthers defensive back Dallas Rowland.
Maysville running back Carson Jarrett had a game himself as well, rushing for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Panthers defeat the Green Wave 26-17.
While over in Dresden there was a match-up between a couple D-III powerhouses. The Tri-Valley Scotties welcomed in the Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish.
Both defenses controlled much of the first half until Terrance Keyes Jr. opened the scoring for the Irish just before halftime.
After falling behind by two touchdowns, the Scotties fought back through an Andrew Newsom touchdown pass to Greg Nolder. But Keyes Jr. who finished with two touchdowns on the night, sealed the game with two minutes to go. Tri-Valley falls by a final of 21-13.
Maysville travels to Sheridan next week to take on the Generals, while Tri-Valley heads to McConnelsville to battle the Morgan Raiders.
