ZANESVILLE, OH- The Red Cross is continuing to help those displaced by the extreme storms and flooding the area has been experiencing.

There’s been a shelter in place at the Perry County Fairgrounds in New Lexington and they’re still housing between 40 and 50 people each night.

Tim Callahan, the Executive Director of the Red Cross East Central Chapter, says they’ve added a shelter location here in Muskingum County at Coburn United Methodist Church.

“We had one at North Terrace [Church of Christ] also, but we’re just combining the efforts right now and focusing on anyone who needs a place to go can come here.” Callahan said.

Callahan says Coburn can house between 40 and 50 people, but if they fill up, residents will be sent to the North Terrace Church of Christ.

The Red Cross is providing cots, blankets, food, and medical assistance if you have to leave any medications behind.

“We’ll have health services, because oftentimes, in something like this, people leave their place and the medications behind or a CPAP machine, things like that.” Callahan said. “We’ll have health servies, disaster mental health services for people that need that. We’ll figure out things for pets and all of that.”

Coburn United Methodist Church is located at 3618 Maple Ave. and North Terrace Church of Christ is located at 1420 Brandywine Blvd.
