Colt Emerson to Have Season-Ending Wrist Surgery

SEATTLE, WA – A promising rookie season for one of baseball’s top prospects is ending sooner than anyone wished. 2023 John Glenn High School graduate, and current Seattle Mariners infielder Colt Emerson is having wrist surgery on Wednesday to address a tendon issue in his left wrist, something that has plagued the 21-year old since back in February of this year.

The Mariners’ 2023 first round draft pick was put on the ten-day injured list back on August 14 with wrist inflammation, before he received further evaluation.

Colt was called up by Seattle on May 17 this season, and initially sparked life into the Mariners’ team, before hitting somewhat of a rookie wall down the stretch.

His rookie campaign ends at 69 games with a batting average of .190, eight home runs, and 23 runs batted in, while manning both shortstop and third base at times defensively. He is expected to be ready and healthy for Mariners’ spring training in 2027.
