Health Department encouraging Flu Vaccines at annual Flu Clinics

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Health Department is gearing up for the flu season and encourages everyone to do the same.
The annual flu clinics are underway and the next clinic will be held Saturday, October 7th at the Zanesville Fire Department’s North Station on Leonard Avenue from 10 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon.
“Our flu vaccine is a quadrivalent vaccine that protects against 4 different strains. It’s not only to protect yourselves from getting the flu but also to protect those individuals that cant get the flu vaccine and it’s probably going to be really detrimental to them if they do get the flu. So infants under the age of six months cant get the flu vaccine and if they were to get the flu it would be very serious for them.” said Assistant Director of Nursing, Tiffany McFee.
The clinics come with no cost for Muskingum County residents but the health department asks anyone attending to bring their photo id and insurance card.
“We do ask that people bring their insurance cards if they have insurance because that allows us to be able to bill your insurance for the flu vaccine only and allows us to sustain this event and continue to offer it to Muskingum County residents. ”
