High school football player of the week – Carson Jarrett

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Our week seven Player of the Week didn’t touch the ball a lot, but when he did he made the most of it.

Maysville senior running back Carson Jarrett carried the ball seven times for 171 yards and four touchdowns in Friday’s 60-6 win over Maysville. One of Jarrett’s scores went for 87 yards.

The versatile senior back has now rushed for 12 touchdowns on the season. He also is one of the few players that can say they’ve ran, caught, and passed for a touchdown this year.

His Panthers have now won back-to-back games after they we’re beat by John Glenn in week five 44-0. In the two games since then Maysville has scored 108 points and surrendered just 12.

“We acted like we didn’t want to be there,” said Jarrett about his team’s performance against John Glenn. “That had to change. These past two weeks we’ve fired it up a little bit and played better.”

The Panthers are 5-2 and still alive in the hunt for the playoffs. They play another 5-2 team looking to get into the playoffs this Friday when they travel to Duncan Falls to play Philo.
