Coats for Kids

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Children are going to stay warm this winter, thanks to The Salvation Army and their volunteers.
The Salvation Army held their annual ‘Coats for Kids’ event today with the help of local volunteers. Office Manager Mindy McCloy said about 600 coats will be given out, thanks to The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Group.
“They will start immediately for next year and through donations and through fundraisers that they do, we have the money for the coats,” McCloy said. “We also get slightly used coats and Dave Frick [Owner of Olde Towne Cleaners] helps us with that.”
McCloy acknowledged that Olde Towne Cleaners will help with cleaning the slightly used coats and volunteers will come in to assist with the event.
“Then the moment comes when it gets really joyful, because it’s quite an opportunity to give,” McCloy said. “When you’re helping a child stay warm for the winter, it just means everything. So now the joy is going to start and we’re going to have a good day.”
Families can still pick up coats on October 20, 2017 at The Salvation Army from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.
