Two Students Arrested for Bringing 12 Knives to Philo High School

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says two Franklin Local School District students have been arrested for bringing knifes to school.  Sheriff Lutz says a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male from Philo High school are in being held in the Muskingum County Jail.  Lutz says an investigation revealed the two students rode to school together in a car on Monday February 26th with the weapons, but the knives remained in the vehicle throughout the day and were never brought into the high school.  Lutz says after school was dismissed the 17-year-old student got one of the knives and was waving it around in the parking lot.  The students then left the school property for the day.  The incident was reported to Philo High School staff on Tuesday, February 27th and Sheriff’s Office Resource Officer Chris Merry conducted an investigation. Both students were interviewed, and the 18-year-old student’s car was searched and 12 different knives were found in the vehicle.  The 18-year-old student is facing felony charges of Conveyance of a weapon onto school property.  The 17-year-old student is facing a felon charge of Possession of a weapon on school property.  The names of the students were not released.  In a tweet Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz gave a “HUGE SHOUT OUT to those students that witnessed someone doing something wrong at YOUR School and SAYING something about it!!!”
