Local Connection to Maryland School Shooting

The school shooting in Maryland this week has a connection to Zanesville. On Tuesday 16-year-old Jaelynn Willey was injured in the incident at Great Mills High School. Her great grandparents, Don and Nancy Newman live in Zanesville. We tried to reach them, but they were unavailable. Zanesville Bible Methodist Church shared a Facebook status noting the local connection. The shooting took place Tuesday 7:55 a.m. A 14-year-old boy was also shot and is listed in good condition. The shooter, 17-year-old Austin Wyatt Rollins, was injured by a school resource officer and later died at a hospital. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
