Wildlife Symposium at Campus Center

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District hosted its first Wildlife Symposium.
The program is in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation program at Zane State College. Together students and the MSWCD education and wildlife specialist put together a program featuring over 20 speakers presenting on several different topics.
“We have a freshwater mussel speaker, dragonflies, bees and other pollinators, monarchs, reptiles and amphibians. Pond management. Wild turkeys. So just pretty much something for everybody,” said Nicole Hafer the Education and Wildlife Specialist at the MSWCD.
Around 160 people attended the event. Attendees were able to learn loads of information that they can use on their own.
“A lot of times people who have either they’re managing their own property for things, like deer or turkeys, or they’re trying to figure out what kind of fish to put in their pond. We have information that will help people who have a large amount of property or if they’re just a backyard homeowner and they’re interested in dragonflies or attracting bees to their yard.”
Hafer said people came from other states such as Michigan and Kentucky to attend the program. The program was held at the OUZ Zane State Campus Center.
