One dead after two-car accident

ADAMS MILLS, Ohio– One person is dead and several others are injured after a two-car accident Thursday afternoon.

According to the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Kellie Smith of Newark was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The accident happened on State Route 16 near the Muskingum/Coshocton County line.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a 2011 Chrysler Town and Country had struck a 2016 GMC Yukon causing heavy damage to both vehicles.

Smith was the passenger in the Chrysler that was operated by Carrie Yingling of Conesville, Ohio. Yingling’s two children were also in the Chrysler. All three were transported to Genesis Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

The GMC was operated by 31-year-old Stacey Hogan of Marysville, Ohio. Hogan’s three children were also in the GMC, and they were all transported to Genesis Hospital to be treated for their injuries as well.

Assiting at the scene were the Conesville Fire Department, Dresden Fire Department, Coshocton County EMS, Coshocton County Coroner’s Office, REACT and Prince’s Wrecker Service.

The incident remains under investigation.
