Ridge Avenue Fire “Suspicious”

The Zanesville Fire Department is investigating an early Monday morning fire.  It happened at 1848 Ridge Avenue.

Assistant Chief Jeff Bell says when they arrived on the scene the home was fully engulfed in flames. Bell says what made the fire more difficult to fight was at about the same time a vehicle slammed into a fire hydrant nearby causing a water shortage.

Bell says they also had to get the occupants of a next door home out and to safety.

Bell says the cause of the fire is being labeled suspicious.

The South Zanesville Fire Department assisted on the scene. The Red Cross of Southeast Ohio was called to provide assistance.
