Artist of the Month

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local mother and daughter are opening up their art studio this Friday for the First Friday Art Walk.

Patty Bright and her mother Shirley Lumbatis share a studio in the Masonic Temple, where they showcase Bright’s stained glass and Lumbatis’ acrylic paintings. Bright said First Friday at the Masonic Temple have an infectious energy.

“The Masonic Temple it’s self is just booming with activity,” Bright said. “The energy is just off the charts and the building is full of amazing artists, live music, and refreshments throughout the whole building. It’s hard not to leave the [Masonic Temple], go home and not feel inspired to do something.”

The mother daughter duo opened their studio last summer and enjoy inviting people in to see their work.

“I hope when they walk in, they smile, because we smile every time we walk in,” Lumbatis expressed. “It’s like ‘wow, this is so cool.’ So yeah there is something to interest everybody, I think.”

Both women look to nature for inspiration, you can see their art at the Gypsy Flat Studio in room 225 of the Masonic Temple on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Coming up Lumbatis and Bright will provide their work at Weasel Boy Brewing’s Pints for Pups Fundraiser on April 27, 2018. Bright will also present her work at the Y-Bridge Arts Festival on August 3 and August 4, 2018.
