ZANESVILLE, Ohio – With Earth Day on April 22, 2018, the Zanesville community will join in cleaning up the on and off ramps of interstate 70 on April 21, 2018.

The third Annual Community Pride Clean Up Day is set to start at 10:00 A.M. at American Pride Power Equipment. From there, Owner Ryan Dodson explained people will be split up into groups to cover the various on and off ramps.

“It’s an excellent community service event, so if you’re a high school student and need some community service hours it’s a great way to get those in,” Dodson said. “It’s something to do with your fellow community members and to make a good step in Zanesville.”

For the previous years about 50 people would attend. However, this year Dodson’s expecting a larger crowd of volunteers. Since businesses and organizations have already agreed to participate. Dodson started the clean up day three years ago after noticing a build up of debris.

“Driving around Zanesville it seems like we could do a better job. Instead of complaining, expecting someone else to do it, or asking the government to do it. There is nothing the community can’t do, if a group gets together, pitches in and get’s it done.”

plastic trash bags and gloves will be provided by American Pride. A dumpster will be provided by Kimble Recycling & Disposal and following the clean up a cook out will take place with hot dogs and bratwurst provided by The Winerak Market.
