Authorities say attempted child abduction in Newark was false

NEWARK, Ohio– The reported attempted child abduction in Newark on Tuesday did not occur, according to Newark police.

After days of investigating evidence, including camera footage, Newark police interviewed the alleged victim again and determined the crime did not occur.

The report originally said a man tried to entice a 10-year-old into his vehicle on Tuesday in the area of Marion Court and East Main Street in Newark.

Police said the case is now closed.
