Backup QB tells Buckeyes Goodbye
Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow recently announced his intent to transfer his remaining NCAA eligibility to a program that will appreciate his contribution.
Burrow, who led his Athens High School Bulldogs into John D. Sulsberger Stadium a few years ago and defeated a solid Blue Devil squad, has yet to announce where he will transfer.
Allergy Season is Here
May has been recognized by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America as Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month.
Asthma is a chronic lung condition that can be triggered by environmental conditions such as high pollen counts and high humidity.
People who have been diagnosed with Asthma or other respiratory issues may be eligible for a free air conditioning unit.

Area High School Students Receive Recognition
The Zanesville Noon Rotary Club recently awarded six area high school students with Phoenix Awards for overcoming extreme difficulties in their lives and beating the odds.
Noon Rotary President Don Mason said the Phoenix Award honors children, “who could have easily given up at any point in time due to their medical situations or family situations, but continued to strive ahead, to persevere, and have high aspirations and demands of themselves.”
Mid-East Nursing Program Celebrates 50th Anniversary
The Adult Practical Nursing Program at Mid-East Career and Technology Center will graduate its 50th Practical Nursing class this month.
The school began its first Registered Nurse class in January, and students who graduate from the Practical Nursing Program can now continue their education with the RN Program.
Primary Election Results
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine won the Republican nomination to run for governor, as former National Consumer Agency Chairman Richard Cordray won the Democratic nod.
Local State Senator Troy Balderson beat Melanie Leneghan to win the Republican nomination to fill the U.S. House of Representatives, Ohio 12th district seat being vacated by Pat Tiberi.
Locally, voters passed school levies for both East and West Muskingum School Districts.
Perry Township passed their fire levy, while the Jackson Fire district defeated theirs.
South Zanesville passed their electric aggregation measure, while Springfield Township defeated theirs.
Military Road Closure
Military Road between Linden Avenue and Dresden Road will be closed Monday, May 14, and Tuesday, May 15, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for tree clean up.
Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.
Veterans Eat Free
The Veterans Appreciation Foundation will be hosting a free breakfast for all veterans Saturday, May 19, at the VFW from 7 to 10 a.m.
