Safety Town Program

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- During the month of June, the Carr Center will be teaching young kids safety tips.

Safety Town is put on every year by the Carr Center to teach four and five-year-old kids about possible dangers in life such as stranger danger, fire, and traffic safety. Carr Center Executive Director Kim Hosler said teaching children young can save their lives.

“It’s never wrong to be teaching safety to children as early as we can start the better off it is. We feel like we’re making the whole town of Zanesville a safer place because of Safety Town because these children will get into the car with their parents and remind them to buckle up,” said Hosler.

Hosler said Safety Town has been going on for roughly 20 years and it makes a huge impact in the community. She said the biggest goal of Safety Town is to teach safety in a way the kids will remember it.

“There are a lot of songs that go along with the lessons and there actually songs that will stick with you for the rest of your life, I have to say. We play games, and we go outside and ride on the tricycles on safety city. We just mix it up and have a lot of fun,” said Hosler.

There will be three week-long sessions. The sessions will start on June 4th, 11th, and the 18th. For more information or if you would like to sign up you can visit the Carr Center’s website.
