A Biddy Controversy
We’re used to controversy in the NFL and college football, but now there’s Biddy drama.
Controversy is brewing after a Biddy League football game last Saturday at Village Park in Crooksville.
Philo was taking on Crooksville when 11-year-old Philo football player Leondre Crosby’s mother says he was called racial slurs by two Crooksville players
"During the third quarter, two of the players got my son in the back field and began to stomp on him. When he went to push the foot off from one of the players, the referee threw a flag," says Stephanie Means, mother.
Referees ejected Crosby from the game because he pushed one of the Crooksville players.
Crooksville Biddy League vice president Jeff Nichols says Crooksville will be conducting an in-house investigation to determine if any of their players did utter a racial slur. Head coach Clint Miller says they have never had an incident like this before.
Both men say if they do find a racial slur occurred the students will be punished. Crosby’s mother says she’s happy they are looking into the matter.
"That’s what I would like, but it’s also not fair to my son because he’s worked so hard all football season to get to the playoffs, and he doesn’t get to play all because adults don’t know how to be adults and raise their kids right these days. "
Since Crosby was kicked out of the game he is now suspended for the upcoming playoff game, which follows Ohio High School Athletic Association rules.
The Philo Biddy League president says representatives from the MVL teams voted 5 to 2 Sunday to uphold the suspension.
