Litter Control Project Turns Litter into Art

One local group cleans up our streams and turns litter into art.

Creator of the Chaps Run Watershed Group Cheryl Sebring said this is a litter control project. Local people got together and are picking up the litter in and around Chaps Run Park. She said it’s important for us to keep our earth clean and appreciate our area wildlife. So she’s making it fun and educational.

"We are going to transform our garbage into art.The theme is the celebration of urban birds. So we hope to get some pretty interesting sculptures that resemble a bird or people’s interpretation of an urban bird," Sebring said.

Sebring said the kids are also making kites and playing nature games . She said the parks are important because of what it offers the community.

"I think that this park offers the neighborhood a great opportunity to learn about science by getting involved in nature," Sebring said.

Sebring said the Zanesville Fire Department were there to show their support of the litter control project.
