Zanesville Man Arrested after Drug Bust

A Zanesville man is facing drug charges after the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office seized almost 1,000 grams of cocaine and 100 grams of crack.

Timothy Johnson was taken into custody around five p.m. Friday night after Sheriff Matt Lutz says a scheduled stop was made off Maple Avenue.

"The vehicle was in the lot and we had two marked cruisers approach the vehicle and take the suspect into custody, " says Lutz.

A search warrant was then executed at an apartment off Muirwood Drive, where they seized a handgun, $8,000 in cash, and two vehicles, a 2002 Cadillac and a 2008 Chevy Malibu. The street value of the cocaine, totals almost $200,000.

"Anytime we get into almost 1,000 grams of cocaine, it’s a huge amount. That’s just not for personal use. When people are buying drugs on the street, they’ll buy $10 or $20 worth of drugs on the street to get high. This is the obvious indication that this person was intending to distribute the cocaine onto the street, " says Lutz.

Johnson is facing six drug-related counts and two counts of having weapons under disability. If convicted, he could face up to 49 years in prison.
