No Contact Advisory for Blue Rock State Park
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is posting a new NO CONTACT advisory for the Blue Rock State Park.
Due to several toxins being present, they are advising that people visiting the lake have no contact with the water, including boating.
Some of the toxins sampled were anatoxin-a, saxitoxin and cylindospermopsin.
" Anatoxin-a was found in one of the samples at 10 parts per billion. Saxitoxin was found just over the detection limit of 0.1 (just barely seen) and the cylindospermopsin wasn’t found," said Melissa Fazekas, Communications Director for the Ohio EPA.
The Ohio EPA says anatoxin-a and saxitoxin are neurotoxins, if ingested they can adversely affect your nervous system.
The State of Ohio says they will continue to sample the water at the lake and report on the results.
