Ohio Fraternal Order of Police President Jay McDonald, stopped in Zanesville Thursday afternoon to speak to local members about endorsing Governor Ted Strickland for re-election. The F.O.P. is an organization of sworn law enforcement officers in the United States.

"I believe that our 26,000 members across the state of Ohio chose to endorse Governor Strickland mainly because Congressman Kasich’s wrecklass tax plan," said President of the Ohio F.O.P. Jay McDonald.

McDonald says that Kasich’s plan includes removing 12 billion dollars from the state general fund, which could lead to lay-off’s of police officer’s statewide. He believes it will ultimately hurt Ohio’s state penitentiary system.

"To remove that chunk of money out of the state general fund, we predict it will result in the mass release of prisoners back into your neighborhood and my neighborhood," said McDonald.

Incumbent Governor Ted Strickland will be running against former Republican U.S. Representative John Kasich in the Gubernatorial Election, which will be held on November 2nd.
