Authorities Identify Man Found in Buckeye Lake

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has released the name of the victim found dead in Buckeye Lake.

ODNR says it was 61-year-old Danny L. Friend of Hebron who was discovered in the lake Tuesday near Township Road 79 in Perry County.

According to the Licking County coroner Friend died of a neck injury. Sheriff William Barker said a rope was tied around the man’s neck. Heidi Hetzel-Evans with ODNR says it’s too soon in the investigation to determine if the death was a suicide.

The investigation will continue by ODNR, with the assistance of the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.
