Warrior Citizens Acknowledged

Members of the Army Reserve are welcomed home in a special ceremony recognizing the sacrifices they and their families have made.

The ceremony was held at Secrest Auditorium in Zanesville to honor members of the 660th Movement Control Team. Soldiers are named Warrior Citizens for their bravery, their spirit and their sacrifice. 16 soldiers were recognized.

"These are every day citizens in our community and they’re willing to put on the uniform and sacrifice and leave their communities and families to do what the country needs them to do," says Unit Commander SFC Dennis Morris.

Each recipient was given a soldier lapel insignia, a welcome-home flag, and a specialized American flag. Sunday was a day to publicly acknowledge each individual soldier alongside their family members.

"To me it means a lot and I actually feel our families go through more than we go through just because they don’t know what actually goes on over there," says SSG Michael Scott.

"They’re (my family’s) glad to have me home, and I’m happy to be home," says 1LT Bruce Lee.

The 660th Movement Control Team returned home in March of this year. Their duties involved controlling all the movement of convoys and the equipment going in and out of Iraq.
