Efforts to Improve Putnam District Lot
A local woman is doing her part to help make her Putnam District neighborhood a little more appealing and needs your help.
Dee Nichols, of 513 Woodlawn Avenue, will be purchasing this empty lot at the corner of Jefferson and Woodlawn with hopes of making it a community vegetable garden.
"The goal of this whole thing is to provide enough vegetables that are grown by the community that we can donate 15 percent to Christ Table and also to the Salvation Army," said Nichols.
An outpouring of community support for Nichols is already well underway but needs even more help to make the garden happen.
"I want you to tell everybody. I want you to tell your church, your golf buddies, your hunting buddies, anybody that can pick up a shovel or drop off a bag of potting soil. It doesn’t have to be a huge donation but a lot of the major businesses in this town have kicked in," said Nichols.
The lot, once complete, will be named the Putnam Community Garden and will strictly be non-profit. For more information on how to donate or help, you can contact Dee Nichols at 740-891-4923.
