Lemonade Stand Benefit For Cancer Treatment

A 19 year old is battling cancer and his four siblings are selling lemonade on the north end of Zanesviile to try to help him pay for his treatment.
Michael thompson has Ewing’s Sarcoma. A rare cancer that has formed a mass around his spine. Michael’s Mother Annamarie Stanton said he had surgery but they couldn’t get all of it. The next step is chemo but doesn’t have insurance.
"He basically acquired a lot of bills being uninsured," Stanton said.
She says his surgery back in April put him in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. So his 16 year old sister Heather decided to set up a lemonade stand outside their home to raise money for her brother.
"He is my brother and he’s done so much for me and he’s been there anytime i’ve needed him and it’s time for us to be there for him," Heather Yaneris said.
People can donate and get lemonade at this house at the corner of Belle Street and Wabash Ave.
"It means the world to me even the smallest donations count. It’s better than having nothing and that’s what he has right now," Yaneris said.
Stanton says she’s in shock and that she can’t believe the support they have gotten from the community.
"I fell like crying but I know in April I cried a lot and I know that I can’t thank anybody enough," Stanton said.
The kids will be out at the lemonade stand all summer long to help fund their brother’s fight for cancer.
"Anything that anybody can contribute is amazing," Yaneris said.
