Muskingum Valley Council of Boy Scouts to Begin New Campaign

The Muskingum Valley Council of Boy Scouts told us about a new campaign Thursday.
‘Once an Eagle, Always a Leader’ sends the message to parents of Boy Scouts or those thinking of joining, that scouts is more than just camping and outdoor activities. Scout Executive Ed Mulholland says that it prepares youth for their future.
"What we’re doing is building character, strengthening family ties, teaching boys achievement and how to set goals and be successful and ultimately they’re going to be great neighbors and good husbands."
Only 4% of scouts actually earn their Eagle Scout award. It takes a lot of dedication and about 4 years of hard work to achieve it. Scout Master of Troop #128 Kevin Pinson says that earning his Eagle Scout made him a better individual.
"I think I’m a better person today because of my experiences in scouting. It did a lot for my self esteem and it’s definitely made me a better person. It reinforced the moral values I was taught at home and taught me a lot of leadership skills and I apply a lot of that today in my career."
