Wilson Pleads Guilty to Multiple Shootings

A Columbus man pleads guilty in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court to multiple shootings including a murder. Assistant Muskingum County Prosecutor Ron Welch says 27-year-old Anthony Wilson entered the pleas to one count of murder and four counts of felonious assault — all with firearm specifications. Welch says the first shooting incident happened in September of 2013 outside Hoppy’s bar on Putnam Avenue. Police say Wilson was involved in a confrontation outside of the bar and opened fire on a crowd striking four people. In another incident in January of this year Wilson shot Isaac Thomas on Spangler drive during an argument over a stolen weapon. Thomas later dies of his injuries. Welch says the Prosecution is recommending a sentence of 32-years-to life. A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered. A co-defendant in the Spangler Drive incident – Chad Morrison – who is facing a complicity of aggravated murder charge goes on trial December 9th.
