A New Report Shows How Muskingum County Libraries Benefit the Community
A special report shows that Muskingum County libraries provide a strong economic benefit to the community.
The Ohio Library Council that represents Ohio’s 251 public libraries did a study on the year of 2014 that shows Ohio’s Investment in public libraries brings cost efficiency and great value along with a low cost for Ohio residents.
“What it indicated was in fact, Ohio does have the strongest public libraries in the nation. Ohio is a number 1 per capita in the number of library transactions it is also is number 1 in the number of library card holders. It has 7.5 visits per resident per year,” said Blair Tom, Assistant Director, John McIntire Library System.
Tom said, in the report, Muskingum County stands out by their commitment to bringing education, enrichment and entertainment to the community.
“I think that it indicates that they value because, we can only be as good as their interest, support and their investment allows us to be. It represents a real strength in Muskingum county,” said Tom.
Tom said moving forward Muskingum County libraries is committed to developing their virtual library and online resources.
