A Storybook Christmas is Coming to Life

Mid-East Career and Technology Centers staff and students help to make the storybook Christmas in Downtown Zanesville come to life.

Terry Goss from Goss Supply Company has allowed Mid-East students and faculty to repair and update many of the animated Christmas characters that have been on display in Zanesville for many years. Adult Education Admissions Coordinator, Rick Mautz, is working with the talented team since September.

"This is something we actually thought about for years doing something with this project. It’s just a way for us to give back, it really gets the entire student body involved in this process, there’s so many different classes: our commercial arts program, our building trades, welding, industrial maintenance classes. So, everybody’s playing an essential part in this entire project right now, we look forward to growing to some other programs too as well."

John Glenn High School Student Volunteer, Clay West, helped in making the stars on display at the courthouse.

"We just took some rods, welded them together, and then put some rods on the bottom to make the stars a littler steadier. And then we wrapped them in garland and lights and zip tied them."

The newly finished and animated Christmas decorations will be on display at the Muskingum County Courthouse, Olde Towne Antique Mall and the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce.
